Honeymoon Day

Seven months into my marriage to Roslyn, and I was still feeling euphoric. But the talk of lonely days being in the past now punches me in the stomach, for now the lonely days are here, futile meals are prepared for one, and life is loneliness in a world without the sun.

Honeymoon Day

I couldn't live another day
without you waking in my bed.
Each day I need to feel your love
to take away the fear I dread.

The fear of waking up alone
of futile meals prepared for one
Of living, working, cleaning up
alone in a world without the sun.

But lonely days are in the past
we'll never spend a day alone.
I need you every single day,
I cherish all the love you've shown.

As I gaze at your beauty, still asleep,
your eyes flick open and straight away,
your lovely smile invites me over
our flesh entwined, I want to stay.

Surely we can stay all day,
our bodies close, the passion high.
and then to doze while still together
hours pass as the day goes by.

The world can carry on without us
it won't stop turning if we stay in bed.
How blessed we are to have love
growing stronger daily since we wed.

For my precious, beautiful wife, Ros - 10th September 2007
